BC Platforms partners to fight cancer

The Basel-based data management company BC Platforms has signed a partnership agreement with the American Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital. Their research data will be analysed for the fight against cancer.

The partnership will give BC Platforms access to clinical and genomic data from Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital’s tumour database, in order to facilitate statistical analysis. For example, genes that are involved in the emergence of cancer will be analysed.

The aim of the partnership between the Basel-based company and the medical establishment from Lebanon in the US state of New Hampshire is to develop new treatment methods for cancer, explained a statement.

“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Dartmouth-Hitchcock to support translational research initiatives in cancer,” commented Tero Silvola, CEO of BC Platforms, in the statement. He added that together, the companies would use BC Platforms’ analysis tools to explore individual cancer treatments and to perform large batch automated analysis of data.

Founded in 1997, the company works closely with a network of scientists and companies. BC Platforms brings together genomic analysis and information technology.
