With the ambitious goal of being a zero-emission building, Basel’s youngest skyscraper Grosspeter Tower was constructed to cover its own power requirements. Already during the construction phase, this impressive 78 meter office building by Burckhardt+Partner was awarded numerous prizes for its unique sustainable design and its building fabric. In particular, the façade, which is half windows, half integrated photovoltaic system - the first of its kind in Europe – make the building an efficient powerhouse.
After the official opening of Grosspeter Tower and move-in of Bayer in summer 2018, other well-known tenants have settled in the tower or will move into their newly developed offices in the coming months. Among others, Basel’s first Spaces Coworking solution operated by IWG will open its doors on the top floors from April 2019.
IWG - a leading provider of flexible workspaces - is strongly expanding in the Basel Region, aiming at establishing up to 10 new centers within the next three years. IWG has been a strong partner of BaselArea.swiss since opening its first center in Basel and has since hosted numerous foreign companies while starting up their business operations in the Basel region. To strengthen this partnership, BaselArea.swiss collaborates with IWG to offer its newly established Swiss entities of foreign companies and startups a soft start by providing free workspace for the first two months.
The building is ideally located in Basel’s business district, just a short walk from the railway station, shops and restaurants and has direct highway access. With the attached Ibis Styles, it offers on-site accommodation for business partners and customers.
