Endress+Hauser wins Red Dot Award

Basel-based measurement technology firm Endress+Hauser received the Red Dot Award in the product design category for its smart flowmeter designed for auxiliary systems.

The Picomag smart plug-and-play flowmeter from Endress+Hauser impressed the jury of the Red Dot Design Awards to receive the Red Dot seal of quality in the product design category. The pocket-sized flow measurement technology can be used across all industries. It measures not only the flow in electrically conductive fluids, but also the process temperature, according to an Endress+Hauser statement. What’s more, it works with Bluetooth and can easily be commissioned via an app.

The Red Dot Design Award is one of the world’s most renowned design competitions. The award stands for outstanding design quality and is divided into three categories: product design, communications design and design concept. Products are evaluated according to different criteria, including the level of innovation, functionality, design quality, ergonomics and durability.

“We are pleased that the Picomag persuaded the jury with its compact format, flexible installation possibilities and intuitive operation,” said Bernd-Josef Schäfer, managing director of Endress+Hauser Flowtec, the Group’s center of competence for flow measurement technology based in Reinach in the canton of Basel-Landschaft.

The flowmeter is just one of many Endress+Hauser innovations. The company submitted 261 patent applications in 2017 and owns a total of 7,479 active property rights around the world. Endress+Hauser is able to maintain a high level of innovation thanks to its extensive R&D activities and close collaboration with universities and research institutes.
