The premium cigars manufacturer Oettinger Davidoff opened its new headquarters in Basel on Wednesday. This significant investment in Maison Davidoff marks the company’s commitment to the location.
Maison Davidoff has replaced the former company headquarters, which were built in 1930, on Nauenstrasse.
The new building was designed by Diener & Diener, an architecture firm that employs around 75 people in Basel. Construction work began in April 2015, according to a statement released by Oettinger Davidoff AG.
"With the expressive load-bearing external supports, we wanted to create a building that would reflect the bustling work that goes on inside Davidoff,” explained Roger Diener.
Within bustling Maison Davidoff, which has seven floors across an area of just under 7,700 square metres, the premium cigars manufacturer employs 160 people.
At their disposal are showrooms, cigar lounges, a cafeteria and a car park. A walk-in humidor is one of the highlights of the interior.
Located at Nauenstrasse 73, the Minergie-standard building “fits into the Basel cityscape in a way that is modern and natural”, explained the company.
CEO Beat Hauenstein commented on Wednesday that he was “proud to officially open the Maison Davidoff here, in the heart of Basel”.
He added in the statement: “Today's official opening not only represents a milestone in the history of our company, but Maison Davidoff is also a magnificent gift from the owners, and after two years of construction we can finally move in. It's a joyous and happy homecoming.”
