Endress+Hauser acquires innovative niche supplier

The measurement technology company Endress+Hauser has acquired SensAction. Located in Coburg in northern Bavaria, SensAction specialises in measuring the concentration of liquids.

SensAction has developed a new method for measuring the concentration of liquids with the help of surface acoustic waves. By analysing the transmission time and amplitude, the acoustic parameters of the liquid, such as sound wave velocity, impedance and density, can be measured in order to determine the concentration. As they contain no moving parts, the systems are maintenance-free.

Endress+Hauser has now acquired the innovative company from Coburg in northern Bavaria retroactively from 1 January. “This innovative technology is an excellent fit with our modern flow measurement portfolio,” Bernd-Josef Schäfer, managing director of Endress+Hauser Flowtec AG, said in a statement. “It allows us to further expand our range of products for measuring quality parameters.”

SensAction and its 13 employees will now operate as a division of the Endress+Hauser centre of competence for flow measurement technology in Reinach in the canton of Basel-Landschaft. Stefan Rothballer and Michael Münch, two of the company’s founders, will continue to manage the company's business.
