Frank Kumli

Head of Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Member of the Management Board

Frank Kumli has been in charge of innovation and entrepreneurship activities at BaselArea.swiss since 1 January 2019. He is also operationally involved in the DayOne initiative where he is responsible for the Catalyst projects.

Before starting his position at BaselArea.swiss, Frank spent ten years working for Ernst & Young in various global and local functions, most recently managing the Commercial Innovation team in Switzerland with a focus on product strategy, digital health and commercial excellence for the life sciences industry.

Frank previously headed the business development efforts for health ingredients at Lonza.

Furthermore, he spent eight years as director of Marketing & Sales at Carbogen Amcis, present throughout its development from a local start-up to a multinational enterprise.

Frank Kumli started his career as a development chemist at Roche/Givaudan. He completed his PhD in organic chemistry at the Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium), a post-postdoctoral degree at the Colorado State University (US), a Sales Management degree at the University of St. Gallen (CH) and an Executive MBA at the University of Rochester (USA/CH).
