A Basel startup has closed a successful seed round totaling 2.6 million Swiss francs from several investors. Qnami will use the funds to support the market entry of its quantum microscope for the analysis of magnetic materials at the nanoscale.
The financing round was led by the venture capital fund Quantonation and also featured investiere.ch, Zürcher Kantonalbank’s (ZKB) Start-up Finance and High-Tech Gründerfond, announced Qnami in a statement. Founded in 2017, the startup is developing a platform for the analysis of magnetic materials at the nanoscale. Its first product – a quantum microscope for the inspection of these materials – is now ready for market launch.
The magnetic properties of materials play a crucial role in modern electronics, explains Qnami co-founder and CEO Mathieu Munsch in the statement. However, they are not always well understood, meaning the magnetic properties are even less well-controlled. With Qnami’s quantum microscope, this understanding can be improved, helping to develop the electronics of the future, according to Munsch. He goes on to say that his company wants to use its expertise to support solutions in other areas too.
