HelloSport, a startup based in Basel, has developed an innovative workplace platform for senior citizens called Seniors@Work. This platform is impressing ever more investors, most recently also on “Die Höhle der Löwen Schweiz” (Switzerland’s Dragon’s Den). Seniors@Work was supported by the mentoring program of BaselArea.swiss during the founding phase. BaselArea.swiss helps founders to further develop their start-up projects in such a way that they pass business angels in individually tailored expert workshops.
Through Seniors@Work, HelloSport wants to make better use of the potential offered by older workers. “On the one hand, the platform should enable work opportunities for seniors and, on the other hand, foster the exchange of young and older generations,” explains founder and CEO Alexis Weil on the website of Seniors@Work.
Evidently, the minds behind Seniors@Work are spot-on with their chosen concept. They are in with a strong chance of winning the TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award. Having successfully completed the first phase, Seniors@Work has been confirmed as the first startup to join a new corporate accelerator program run by insurance company Helvetia. With MassChallenge Switzerland, another accelerator has also chosen Seniors@Work to be among its cohort of startups.
At the same time, Alexis Weil’s team are working on securing further capital. To this end, a crowdfunding campaign has been launched in collaboration with the Raiffeisen Bank. Funds raised in this way will be used to develop the platform and promote it throughout Switzerland. This campaign is live until 7 July, with almost 10 percent of the target raised in a matter of days. The platform recently also appeared successfully on the TV show “Die Höhle der Löwen Schweiz” (Switzerland’s Dragon’s Den), where three investors were won over by the platform concept.
