Hyperledger, the international blockchain initiative, is currently hosting the first Hyperledger Global Forum in Basel. As the event opened, the initiative welcomed numerous renowned companies as new members.
Brian Behlendorf, Executive Director of Hyperledger, spoke enthusiastically about the opening of the Hyperledger Global Forum in Basel. In a statement, he said: “We are starting Global Forum off with a bang with this impressive line-up of new members.”
Around a dozen new members have joined the initiative, including heavyweights such as the cloud branch of the online department store Alibaba, Deutsche Telekom and the financial services provider Citi. With the new recruits, the international blockchain initiative now has more than 260 members.
The Linux Foundation initiated the Hyperledger project at the end of 2015, giving members of different sectors the chance to work together to develop blockchain technologies. The Global Forum, which runs until 15 December in the Congress Center Basel, will look at blockchain technology from both technical and entrepreneurial perspectives. Also on the agenda will be the potential of different applications for companies and development plans for Hyperledger projects.
