Baselland increases startup support

The canton of Basel-Landschaft is supporting the Startup Academy now open in Liestal and a new business incubator in the Oberbaselbiet with startup financing. Funding for the two existing business parks is still available.

The Verein Startup Academy Basel has opened a new location in Liestal, which will launch the Verein Startup Academy Liestal. From 2019 to 2021, its services are earmarked for startup financing of 20,000 Swiss francs per year from the state council, according to a statement. The Startup Academy, which opened in 2010, accompanies startups now totalling 160 with offers such as volunteer coaches from industry and the economy.

Also set to receive state council funding – in the form of one-off seed capital of 25,000 francs – is the new business incubator Business Park Oberbaselbiet. The canton is also paying the staggered cost contributions of consulting services to founders living in the canton for the first three years, with a total of 234,750 francs available.

The new incubator is sponsored by the Stiftung Business Park Laufental & Thierstein, which also operates the eponymous Business Park. As until to date, the park will receive a maximum of up to 60,000 francs per year for consulting services in the pre-launch phase and for succession regulation.

Over the next three years, Business Parc Reinach is set to receive a maximum of 165,000 francs annually for consulting services.
