Global Coating Supplier - Axalta Receives Tell Award 2018

Axalta, a leading global coatings supplier of liquid and powder coatings, received the Tell Award by Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE). During the Award ceremony, Giorgio Pompilio, Acting Consul General of Switzerland in New York, lauded Axaltas significant investment in the Basel Area.

In 2016, the US Company with global headquarters in Philadelphia, PA opened it’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) headquarters in Basel to bring together Axalta’s EMEA leadership teams from all over Europe. Axalta is looking to further increase its presence in the city. Key arguments have been the international location of the Basel Area, which is home to a thriving and important  chemical industry , and access to an attractive talent pool. During this process, Axalta was supported by, the office for promoting innovation and inward investment for the Basel Area, who also nominated the company for the Tell Award 2018.

Axalta produces transportation coatings for light and commercial vehicles as well as performance coatings for refinish and industrial applications. The company pays close attention to sustainability and supports Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics education (STEM) worldwide. With more than 150 years of experience in the coatings industry, the 14,000 people of Axalta continue to find ways to serve more than 100,000 customers in 130 countries.

Since 2004, the Tell Award – named after the Swiss folk hero Wilhelm Tell – recognizes North American companies that have made substantial and innovative investments in Switzerland. Last year’s Award was presented to the life sciences company Roivant which is also based in Basel. Previous winners include Abbott, Biogen, Fossil, Sigma-Aldrich, Disney Research, Medtronic, Microsoft, eBay and Google.

The Award ceremony was held at Bloomberg in New York City on October 11th
