The Technologiepark Basel has grown by some 3,000 square metres. The extension includes, among other facilities, twelve new biology and two chemistry laboratories. More space is also being created for innovative start-ups. This will further strengthen the Basel region's ecosystem.
With the additional surface area, the Technologiepark Basel is now nearly twice its former size, as the Canton of Basel-Stadt announces in a press release. Overall, 34 new offices and additional communal spaces are available for innovative start-ups from the areas of life sciences, ICT, the chemicals industry, environmental and energy technology and nanotechnology.
Technologiepark Basel's CEO, Nina Ryser-Iten, reports that more and more major companies are collaborating with start-ups in the area of research and development. For a research hub like Basel, then, it is particularly important that start-ups have sufficient space. Demand for laboratory and office space in Basel has, she says, been consistently strong. This is already the second expansion of the Technologiepark Basel since 2014.
Around the Technologiepark, Swiss Prime Site Immobilien AG's new Stücki Park is taking shape. A centre for innovation, knowledge, procurement and experience is to be created on it.
