The Basel-based pharmaceutical company Roche will acquire the U.S. data analytics firm Viewics, allowing Roche to add further digital capabilities along its laboratory value chain.
According to a Roche statement, the acquisition is expected to close on Tuesday 21 November, and the Basel-based pharmaceutical company will acquire all shares of Viewics. The software company from San Jose, California developed a technology that allows for efficient integration of big data from a variety of IT systems in the laboratory and beyond, pioneering a new way in extracting, transforming and augmenting data, writes Roche.
The acquisition will help Roche support its customers in improving their lab performance and processes, said Roland Diggelmann, CEO of Roche Diagnostics. “The Viewics solution offers our customers insights at their fingertips, uncovering potential value and profitability drivers in lab operations, and indicators to improve overall quality of care.”
Founded in 2010 in the U.S. and with a subsidiary in India, the Viewics technology solution generates insights that can inform real-time decisions about costs and laboratory performance affecting today’s modern healthcare organizations, explained Keith Laughman, CEO of Viewics
Dhiren Bhatia, founder of Viewics, believes that Roche’s expertise will enable his company to embark on the next phase of its development.
