Patients at a TopPharm pharmacy in Basel can soon receive outpatient services by means of video consultation. The solution is provided by Medgate, which wants to expand across Switzerland with its modern Mini Clinics.
The new Mini Clinic will open for business on 8 September at the TopPharm pharmacy at Barfüsserplatz in the heart of Basel. Patients can simply walk into the Mini Clinic without an appointment and receive medical treatment by an experienced health professional. If necessary, the health professional will arrange a video consultation with a general practitioner or specialist at Medgate’s Telemedicine Centre.
The health professional can carry out various physical examinations and perform investigations such as simple lab tests in the Mini Clinic. The data can be sent to the Medgate physician on duty via remote transmission.
Although the Mini Clinic located in the pharmacy is small in size, it can offer a range of specialist services thanks to the video consultation and modern technologies. This will help reduce the cost of healthcare by leading to greater efficiencies, according to Medgate.
The Mini Clinic is being offered by the Basel-based medical care provider Medgate. Together with TopPharm, it plans to open five more Mini Clinics in the next six months in the cantons of Basel-Landschaft, Bern, Zurich and Graubünden, as well as in the region of central Switzerland.
The new Mini Clinic in Basel will open its doors to the curious public on 6 and 7 September.
