Clariant has inaugurated a high-tech greenhouse in Frankfurt. Thanks to a smart system, it can simulate weather conditions. The aim is to accelerate innovation in areas such as leaf fertilizer and organic herbicides.
The new greenhouse, which is located at the Clariant Innovation Center (CIC) in Frankfurt, was inaugurated on Wednesday. It occupies an area of 400 square metres, where it facilitates smart simulation of environmental conditions including air humidity, rain, light and temperature.
Among the aims behind the greenhouse, which will complement the CIC laboratory facilities, are speeding up the development of innovative solutions in plant growth regulators, leaf fertilizer and organic herbicides, and accelerating market maturity.
"The new Crop Solutions greenhouse creates the perfect environment for fostering joint development in the areas we see as having most potential for delivering sustainable crop protection and, in the bigger picture, addressing the world's increasing nutrition requirements", commented Britta Fünfstück, member of Clariant's Executive Committee, in a statement.
Clariant is a specialty chemicals company headquartered in Muttenz. With Clariant Crop Solutions, it fosters the development of additives and excipients for the crop protection industry.
