07.09.2016 immerses into Basel Life Science Week 2016

The Basel Life Science Week is a yearly, international event in Basel which sees hosting six parts of the programme. The congress brings together researchers, investors and policy makers from industry, academia, and not-for-profit institutions. It is an open platform, with the specific goal to catalyse the innovation process amongst creative and passionate individuals.

Day One, focus on Precision Medicine
One of the new themes for the 2016 programme is developing open standards for the implementation of Precision Medicine. On Monday, 19th September, thought leaders will share their insights during the workshop “Day One – The Future of Health” on some of the major trends impacting healthcare and Life Sciences (including precision medicine, digital health and mobile health, etc.). It’s a one-day event from 09:00 to 18:00.

Four Events on 21st and 22nd September
The Jumpstarting Innovation Forum on 21st and 22nd September 2016 will be an engaging two-day session on the role of early stage investing, innovative models of funding and incubation, with a range of international speakers, from biotech companies and incubators to some of the top tier venture funds in this area as well as some of the leading pharma companies. Speakers include Richard Mason, Head of Johnson & Johnson Innovation Europe, Francesco De Rubertis from Medicxi Ventures, Scott Minick from ARCH Venture Partners, Jordi Mata-Fink from Flagship Ventures, as well as from a range of top notch biotech companies such as Immusoft, Cellestia Biotech, Anokion, Elthera and more.

Every three years, more than 12,000 specialists from the pharmaceutical, chemical, biotechnology, cosmetics and food sectors all meet at Messe Base for the ILMAC industry fair. The subject of “Industrie 4.0”, which constitutes a topical issue for all these sectors, is being intensively discussed in the ILMAC Forum. will host a Lunch&Learn session on Thursday, 22nd September 2016, from 11:00 to 14:00 titeled “Automation in the laboratory environment”.

On 22nd September 2016, 09:00 to 17:15, hosts the “Basel Microfluidics Workshop 2016”. The keynote presentation will be given by Prof. Dr. Andreas Manz (Korea Institute of Science and Technology) a pioneer in the field of microfluidics. The event agenda consists of sessions related to technology and applications. Delegates from 25 nations have already signed up for this Event.

Matchmaking with delegates from the Netherlands
And on Friday, 23rd September 2016, the “Basel Microfluidics Matchmaking & Networking Event” is taking place from 10:00 to 17:00. Delegates from the Netherlands and the tri-border region of Basel (Switzerland, Germany and France) will be present. The keynote speech will be given by Jürgen Spinke, Head of System Integration at Roche Diagnostics GmbH. This event provides a great opportunity for partnering, including 1:1 matchmaking slots.
